Whenever you see Ben and Siobhán perform, no matter where, no matter what form or format, you are bound to get a stellar show. For one: Ben and Siobhán shift effortlessly between pure folk and intense blues. And Secondly: Ben and Siobhán always put on a different show. NO TWO SHOWS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME. If you see them in California and then two weeks later on Nantucket Island, MA, or in Indiana and then in Pennsylvania... you will never be bored. we will never act sheepish (except Ben... because, frankly, he can put on a sheepskin and act the part).

So, you've seen the nuts by themselves... how else are they cooked up you ask? Let's talk...

FUN, SERIOUS, STRONG, SENTIMENTAL

Ben & Siobhán, bare bones, just us folks doing folk and blues, some traditional, some of our own, and some other admired writers too. When you see us like this you know we're gonna have a ton of fun. Usually it's because we've been in a car together for fourteen straight days and we're absolutely nuts. It's going to be quiet, it's going to be beautiful. There are going to be lullabys and then the scene is going to smolder and explode into a feeling that you though you could only get from Etta James on a sultry, smoky night in New Orleans. Of course... there's the silly stuff too: what about the time when Ben decided to act like a beached whale on stage, or the infamous harmonica?

Ben Murray & Siobhán Quinn with "The Eccentrics."

And sometimes we like to play with some of our greatest friends on stage. We like to call them "The Eccentrics". OK... the players rotate around sometimes and they usually don't know what craziness they're in for, but it's guaranteed to be a full and rich sound. Take for example a recent gig at Mother's Wine Emporium... did they know about the Queen Bee? no. nope. they were as surprised as you were. Slightly off the wall, yes. But wasn't that a great version of Isn't That So? and isn't it amazing that Scott Petito can sing so high? And the debut of Ben's new tune Colchester at Lena's in September. Nice, serious. See, we do break out into our own solo thing every once in awhile, even with these guys in tow. The bee? yeah... well, that was just silly. The Eccentrics are our core for larger festival stages.

(THE ROCKIN' STOMPIN') Ben Murray & Siobhán Quinn Blues Band.

We like to call it The BMSQ Blues band for shorthand. Ben has the chance to take out the electric and play some down and raunchy blues style guitar. Siobhán gets to go all glittery and diva-like. We enjoy this. This is fun. The music is sizzling. Just ask the guys at the New York State Fleet Blues Festival... oh wait... that was when Siobhán's dress nearly fell off... But wasn't her version of Walk The Streets (That's why I'm crying) sizzling? Just you wait for the new album.

Any way you serve up Ben Murray and Siobhán Quinn, any of the above arrangements, incarnations, styles, groups or wacko eccentrics. It will be solid music. Sure we have fun, but it also gets serious, it's gets strong, it gets sentimental.

P.S. Siobhán also does programs for children in arts centers, schools and libraries...
